Antron addresses students at PCC OMIC Training Center
SCAPPOOSE, OR – OMIC R&D and PCC OMIC Training Center played host to two-time champion NHRA drag racer, Antron Brown, on September 11th. Brown’s visit was marked by vibrant interactions with students emphasizing the importance of education and an immersive tour of the cutting-edge facilities in Scappoose, Oregon.
The event, primarily focused on generating enthusiasm in students for the upcoming Manufacturing Day on October 6th, brought together key personalities including Antron Brown; Former State Senator Betsy Johnson; PCC/OMIC Training Center Director, Patty Hawkins; Executive Director of Columbia Economic Team, Paul Vogel; and Craig Campbell, Executive Director at OMIC R&D.
Antron Brown was taken on an engaging tour, starting with the PCC Training Center. Antron gave opening remarks to assembled students and spoke about his experience getting into the racing industry. Students were engaged and had the opportunity to enjoy lunch with Antron, as well as a vibrant question/answer session. After the luncheon, Antron was provided a tour which included the PCC Training Centers new Fab Lab, in addition to the welding facility and classrooms on site.
His tour continued at OMIC R&D, where he was introduced to the state-of-the-art Additive Manufacturing Center. Throughout his tour, he had the opportunity to interact with the researchers and learn about the advancements in both traditional machining and additive manufacturing. The day concluded with a recorded interview featuring Antron Brown, Craig Campbell, and Betsy Johnson, set to premiere on Manufacturing Day.
