Through fun and engaging hands-on activities, Manufacturing Day is an opportunity for us to provide students and community members an understanding into the world of manufacturing and a chance to visit with regional companies and educational institutions in a world-class R&D facility.
At our 2nd annual event in October 2019, the largest in the state, 350 high school students from 12 school districts were brought together with 46 local, regional and global manufacturers to learn about advanced manufacturing through a variety of engaging hands-on activities.
Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, students learned about the academic and skill-based pathways to meaningful careers in the manufacturing sector. Look for more in the future regarding our 2020 event.
The presenting sponsor of this year’s event was Boeing. Other sponsors included Autodesk, Madden Industrial Craftsman, Mahr, Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership, PCC Foundation, Rightline, Seco Tools, Streamingteacher and State Senator Betsy Johnson.
This community driven event is part of the national MFG Day effort and made possible by the support and involvement of a planning committee consisting of regional industry, education and workforce development partners from Northwest Oregon Works, NW STEM Hub with NWRESD, OMIC R&D, Oregon Aero, Portland Community College, ResCare, Rightline Equipment, Scappoose High School and St. Helens High School.
