SCAPPOOSE, OR – September 29, 2023 – In a collaborative endeavor to introduce students to the vibrant world of advanced manufacturing, OMIC R&D is partnering with the PCC Training Center to host Manufacturing Day on October 6th, 2023. This event welcomes nearly a thousand students from the Portland Metro Area and serves as a platform to connect future innovators with industry leaders, and will likely be the largest Manufacturing Day event nationally.
The event will also feature Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, Senator Webber, Former State Senator Betsy Johnson, and Oregon Institute of Technology President Dr. Nagi Naganathan as speakers addressing the students in attendance.
Both venues will operate simultaneously, offering interactive hands-on demonstrations and inviting students to engage with industry leaders and learn about the world of Advanced Manufacturing. Vendors were encouraged to engage students with interactive modules to make the event more immersive.
Over 40 vendors, including industry giants like Boeing, Hangsterfer’s Laboratories Inc, and Sandvik Coromant have registered for the event. A special attraction for the day is the National Guard’s presence, showcasing a Blackhawk Helicopter and a Chinook Helicopter on site.
“This day is primarily aimed at giving students a glimpse into the world of advanced manufacturing, we warmly welcome the public to join us afterward. It’s an opportunity for everyone to witness the incredible advancements in the industry,” says Craig Campbell, executive director of OMIC R&D.
